Founder, Owner, Yoga Instructor, MBA
After practicing yoga for years, my relationship with the practice transformed when I moved to Boulder in 2008 and grew more purpose when it became an essential part of managing the stresses of graduate school. During a time in my life when I felt stuck, my practice evolved into a moving meditation, a means of moving energy, awakening mindfulness, and an instrument to bring awareness and compassion to all areas of my life, on and off the mat. Yoga supported my athletic lifestyle and gave me physical strength beyond my expectations. In 2011, when I married my loving, supportive husband and best friend, I was physically and emotionally stronger than I had ever been. I became a registered yoga teacher in 2012 and, on the last day of my training, I learned that I was pregnant with our first beautiful daughter. We welcomed our second daughter in September 2016. Yoga and motherhood have impacted the very core of who I am. They are and continue to be, the greatest teachers in my life. So, while professional endeavors as an MBA have occupied most of my days, motherhood has been my primary passion. Cultivating a mindfulness practice during my first year of motherhood was more accessible to me than a physical yoga practice. As a mother, I wanted to retain the beautiful gifts that my consistent yoga practice provided and ensure that they were present for my family to benefit. I also sought ways of introducing mindfulness to my daughter and, as my research developed and practice grew, so too did my passion for sharing these lessons. The moving meditation of a yoga practice gives us tools to become more authentic, compassionate, tolerant people for our family, our friends, and our community. Having worked as a caregiver at a daycare/preschool in Massachusetts for many years and, now, as a mother, I know that my true passion lies in working with younger children to empower them with a foundation for healthy habits, including a deep love for themselves and for others. Little Belly Breaths is the latest evolution of my life’s work, and the greatest labor of love. I feel truly honored to be able to share the gifts of yoga and mindfulness practices with the future generation.
